Our Six Personal Development Strands
Staying Safe | Staying Healthy | Local and Global Citizenship | British Values | Preparing for the Future | Volunteering and Developing Leadership |
We aim to ensure that all of our children are able to recognise the dangers that surround them, including the inappropriate use of mobile technology and social media. We aim to teach our children how to keep safe at all times. Safety is a principal priority at Lynch Hill.
We believe that the health and well-being of our pupils is paramount if they are to learn well and grow into healthy and active citizens. We promote the physical and mental well-being of our pupils through a range of activities which supplement our curriculum, ensuring that we go beyond the expected and provide our pupils with a rich set of experiences and enrichment opportunities.
As part of our commitment to pupils’ Personal Development, we encourage our pupils to consider the positive contributions they can make within their local community and within the wider world. It is imperative that our children recognise how fragile our planet is. We aim to encourage pupils to make good choices, understand what they need to achieve to tackle climate change and become more eco-friendly.
We aim to promote British Values and teach our pupils how to respect each other, to understand that differences are positive and that our unique differences make us who we are. They learn to understand democracy, rule of law and individual liberty. Through our inclusive school environment, curriculum lessons, workshops, visits and assemblies, we strive to make our pupils responsible, mutually respectful citizens who are tolerant and who actively celebrate diversity and equality.
We want children to leave Lynch Hill with the confidence, passion and resilience to cope with the challenges of the next stage of life. We want our pupils to understand the changes they will experience and have developed a good understanding of the importance of having clear goals and a path to achieving them, along with knowledge of the wide range of possible careers open to them. We want our pupils to have high aspirations for their future career.
We aim to ensure that all of our children are given the opportunity to volunteer and recognise the importance of contributing positively to the school community and to the wider community. Our nurturing approach at Lynch Hill enables meaningful connections with adults and peers. Whilst not every child aspires to lead, developing an awareness of leadership is important so that they have a good understanding of effective working environments, teamwork and relationships.
