Personal Development
Being a pupil at Lynch Hill is about doing so much more than just attending lessons. In this Personal Development section you can find out what else we do for our children, how they can get involved and how we celebrate their achievements, as well as links to help with their learning.
At Lynch Hill, our school strapline is ‘aim high, work hard and care deeply’ and our children need to be supported in order to become masters of this.
We want to equip our pupils with the skills to be the best they can be and recognise that we need to create a positive climate, culture and learning environment to enable all pupils to thrive. This, we believe, starts with developing strong relationships: relationships between staff and pupils, parents and carers alike. We want these relationships to be grounded in mutual respect and understand that secure relationships are founded on building a sense of safety, connection and understanding. We want all our children to be strong, courageous and resilient by the time they leave us in Year 6.
Through PSHE, our curriculum offer and through enrichment opportunities, our children learn and develop the skills, knowledge and attributes needed in order to be successful learners, to navigate the world around them safely and to be ready for the future. We want them to be able to make informed decisions, to manage risk and to demonstrate tolerance and respect.
Through our commitment to personal development, Lynch Hill pupils will be able to uphold rights, recognise their responsibilities and truly appreciate what it means to be part of richly diverse society. They are given every opportunity to identify their talents, develop a strong sense of self-worth and recognise the positive contribution they can make to the school and to the wider world.
We believe that each child will succeed at Lynch Hill because of the value we place upon being PRESENT (Passion, Resilience, Equality, Safety, Enrichment, Nurture, Teamwork) and as result of the 6 personal development strands that are woven into our curriculum offer and enrichment opportunities:
-
Staying Safe
-
Staying Healthy
-
Local and Global Citizenship
-
British Values
-
Preparing for the Future
-
Volunteering and Developing Leadership
